Department: New Museum Project
Location: London Wall
Role type: Fixed Term Contract
Level of security check required: Basic Disclosure
Closing date: 8 January 2024
Interviews: 17 January 2024
Salary: circa £55,000
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high impact creative programme and play a central role in the development of one Europe’s largest cultural projects. In 2026, the new London Museum will open. Designed as a porous and democratic space the visitor will engage with history in a way that no other museum does.
We are looking for a bold and imaginative Head of Creative Programmes to drive audience engagement, establish a programming strategy and play their part in delivering on our ambition to be one of London’s top cultural destinations. This role is immensely important not just for the museum, but also for cementing Smithfield as a new cultural quarter of the city.
The new London Museum will house world-class permanent galleries, temporary displays and exhibitions showcasing the London Collection, alongside a dynamic events programme.
The new Head of Creative Programmes will work with various stakeholders across the museum, external partners and Londoners to develop and deliver a popular programme of events and exhibitions relevant to the museum, its collection, and the broader social history and development of London.
We are looking for someone who will be proactive, ambitious, and passionate about putting on a great show. You will have a strong track record in an audience-focused role, though not necessarily in a museum. You will curious about the lives of Londoners and confident in designing projects that bring people together.
We believe that diversity, inclusion and creativity go hand in hand.
We aim to ensure:
- All our people feel valued and able to be themselves in the workplace
- Our workforce is increasingly representative of London
- That workforce diversity is achieved at all levels and departments
- Opportunities to work at and develop a career here are open to all
- We advance equality and diversity in the sector and wider society
The closing date for all applications, which should be in the form of a CV and cover letter and addressed to [email protected] is 8 January 2024. To find out more about the role, and how to apply please visit https://www.minervasearch.com/current-opportunities/museumoflondon/
Interviews will take place on Wednesday 17 January 2024.
The Museum of London is committed to equal opportunities and diversity. We particularly welcome applications from disabled, Black, Asian and ethnically diverse candidates, who are currently under-represented in our organisation.
