Mad Systems is an innovative technology company specializing in audio-visual system design and integration for museums, visitor centers, theme parks, traveling exhibits and brand experiences.
We are in search of dedicated and technically capable AV Technician to join our project-based team. This role involves hands-on and active work setting up, installing and ensuring the smooth operation of AV equipment for various exhibit settings.

This AV Technician role is based in-office in Orange, CA and requires additional travel nationwide to various installation job sites. Working hours are M-F, 7am-3:30pm.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an AV technician or similar role
- Computer/networking knowledge
- Familiarity with AV systems and AV equipment including projectors, sound systems, interactive displays and more
- Experience installing projectors overhead, monitors on walls and other low voltage electronics
- Hands-on experience assembling traditional AV system racks including neat cabling with appropriate labels
- Ability to read and understand technical diagrams and schematics
- Willingness to travel to job sites
- Excellent interpersonal and group communication skills
- Ability to work independently and with a team to meet tight or changing timelines
- Familiarity with Auto-CAD
- Basic familiarity with power tools
- Capability of making cat6 cables, audio cables and more
- Basic understanding of network configuration, electronics and electrical systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Metal and woodworking knowledge
- OSHA-10 certification
- Q-SYS certification
- Experience in exhibit or museum settings
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to understand project requirements and specifications
- Install and configure audio-visual systems as per design schematics and project guidelines
- Troubleshoot technical issues during setup, installation and maintenance phases of project
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment, ensuring it remains in optimal condition and replacing faulty components
- Calibrate systems to meet specified performance standards
- Provide training and support for clients post-install and during maintenance visits
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory used, maintenance activities and reports
- Contribute to AV system manual with written narratives and diagrams
We are looking for someone capable of working with a diverse group of people and willing to take direction/instruction from Project Managers and Install Leads. There is no remote option for this position since physical presence in the workshop is integral to daily tasks. Fluent English speaking and passport required.
