Executive Director

The Zoological Association of America (ZAA) is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated executive to serve as the Association’s Executive Director as it seeks to grow and further develop the goals and programs of the organization.

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to foster a productive, creative, and inclusive climate in promoting ZAA’s strategic plans in the areas of service to its membership, animal care, conservation, accreditation, and education programs as well as other board directed initiatives.

The position will supervise the association’s full and part time employees, work closely with the organization’s committees, its members, legislative advisors, and appropriate government agencies, while working under the Association’s Chair and Board of Directors. The position reports to the Chair of the Board.

Previous management experience, a bachelor’s degree, knowledge of HR and accounting practices, and a minimum of five years in the animal and/or conservation industries is required. The successful candidate will be able to interface and work with a variety of facilities and individuals across a wide range of the wildlife industry.

Preference may be given, not required, for experience in the management of a not-for-profit membership organization or similar business, state and federal legislative experience, and advanced degrees. Pay range commensurate with experience.
