Director of Facilities & Technical Operations

Mattel Adventure Park at VAI Resort is seeking a Director of Facilities & Technical Operations to lead the maintenance, engineering and technical operations behind its rides, attractions and facilities.

The role will oversee the safety, reliability and performance of ride systems, themed environments, show systems and supporting infrastructure, while leading teams responsible for maintaining a safe and high-performing guest environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead facilities, engineering, maintenance and technical operations across Mattel Adventure Park.
• Oversee the safe and reliable operation of rides, attractions, show systems and themed environments.
• Manage preventive and predictive maintenance, inspections and asset management programmes.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, ASTM, manufacturer and relevant state and local safety standards.
• Lead safety audits, incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Support attraction commissioning, troubleshooting, upgrades and lifecycle planning.
• Manage maintenance programmes, budgets, capital projects and vendor relationships.
• Lead, develop and support technical and operational teams.
• Work across departments to maintain operational readiness and a high-quality guest experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Technical Operations, Construction Management or a related field preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, ASTM ride standards, building systems and regulatory compliance.
• Familiarity with CMMS, asset management and maintenance planning systems is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

Experience

• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in technical operations, engineering, facilities management, maintenance, theme parks, attractions, entertainment venues, resorts or a similar large-scale environment.
• Experience with ride systems, attraction maintenance, themed entertainment or complex guest-facing facilities is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience leading maintenance programmes, capital projects, vendors and operational teams.

Working requirements

The position involves working within active attraction and maintenance environments, including indoor and outdoor areas, elevated platforms and mechanical spaces. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and be available for evenings, weekends, holidays and operational emergencies when required.
